Snowshoeing In Les Arc 1800

DISCOVER THE REAL MOUNTAINS AND INDULGE YOURSELF IN NATURE WITH OUR SNOWSHOEING COURSES. Snowshoeing (Raquettes) for adults.

another discipline to try at your leisure

With any ski holiday there comes a time when you get the urge to do something slightly different. The art or sport of snowshoeing (or in French: Raquettes), has quickly become a valuable choice for the British.

If skiing is proving too energetic or you want to do something at more of a steady pace, snowshoeing is the ideal choice. Snowshoeing is the art of walking in the mountains with tennis racket style shoes that give added grip and at the same time discovering nature in it's most glorious form.

Depending on snow conditions we have many routes that allow the spotting of wild animals, mountain flowers and soaring birds of prey. All walks can be modified to meet varying weather conditions.

Snowshoeing is open to all and families often spend time on snowshoeing walks together with an experienced ESF instructor.

Our morning rides are for experienced riders at a steady pace, while our afternoon rides are for beginners at a more comfortable pace.

La randonnée en raquettes nous amène en des lieux ou à des explorations magiques…
The first discovery is to walk on water! Snow is water in its crystallised form: more than 21 different kinds of crystals!
It's walking in wonder and nature... Walking in search of meaning.
1) Disconnecting : Your mobile phone, just like a show, can be put on standby to enjoy.
2) Let your body find its rhythm: After about twenty minutes, during a break, your guide can offer you a Chi Kong session: to rest your breath to release muscular and mental tensions.
3) Stimulate your 5 senses by reading nature: with a simple glance, marvel at the beauty of the landscape! Learn to identify the tracks left in the snow by a squirrel, a deer or a wolf! With your fingertips, recognise the work in the fineness of its bark or the larch in its rough bark... Listen to the wind playing in the branches, the snow crunching under your footsteps, recognise the song of a nutcracker or a black woodpecker... Nibble on a larch or spruce bud or suck on a juniper berry... Breathe in pure and healthy air...
4) Walking with full consciousness: feeling "anchored", feet firmly planted. Let yourself be carried away by the presence of the forest, the imposing presence of the summits and the limpid winter light...
MATERIALS and EQUIPMENT :
Shoes : Upright preferably, they must support the ankle well. Clothing: During the walk the body warms up. It is then necessary to put some layers in your backpack where you will have some drinks and some dried fruits or cereal bars...
The snowshoes are adapted to the morphology of the walkers and the poles are telescopic.
To get around some of the hiking sites, we use a minibus, the inter-station shuttles or the ski lifts (Have 5 € just in case).
The hikes are accessible to everyone in general. However, in case of pregnancy or specific medical problems, please inform your guide who will take care of your well-being. Hiking at high altitude may be contraindicated for people with a heart condition or who are overweight.
The longest hikes can have a maximum height difference of 300 m and 2h30 of walking interspersed with breaks with different themes.
The body adapts very quickly to altitude. The general physical condition improves dramatically within a week. Also, the level of the hikes increases significantly over the days.
Looking forward to meeting you,

From Stéphanie or Claude, your guides.
